The National Criminal Justice Commission Act of 2009 will create a commission charged to undertaking an in-depth review of our entire criminal justice system. The commission will propose wide ranging reforms designed to reduce the incarceration rate, improve federal and local responses to gang violence, restructure our approach to drug policy, improve the treatment of mental illness, improve prison administration, and establish a system for reintegrating ex-offenders.

Congressman Gutierrez has introduced the Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009. CIR ASAP offers our best hope for just and humane reform so urge your Representative to co-sponsor this bill today.

This important legislation will help reduce the enormous backlogs immigrant families must endure before being reunited. This is one part of the anticipated comprehensive reform package coming later this year.
