When Sandra’s husband would drink too much, he would become angry and take his anger out on Sandra by calling her names, shoving her and insulting her in front of their children. Sandra lived with this for months. Her self esteem was crushed. She wanted to run away but didn’t know where to go. “What about my children?”She’d ask. Sandra attended a church, but didn’t feel comfortable talking with anyone about her situation. She was embarrassed. She didn’t know who she could trust. "Preaching to Save Lives!" is a new GBCS campaign that encourages pastors to take that step, and now is a good time to do so. If you are a clergy person, please schedule a sermon during the month of October which is domestic violence month. If you are a lay person, contact your pastor to see if he/she would be open to preaching on this topic. Resources |
