Take Action to Fight Malaria
Malaria. It’s a disease we once fought here in America. Fortunately, our efforts were successful as malaria no longer threatens our families. But in Africa and many developing nations worldwide, malaria stalks and kills almost 1 million people each year, most of them children.
U.S. Government has a history of generosity fighting diseases of poverty, like malaria. In fact the United States is the world’s largest donor in the fight against malaria. But now, as purse strings tighten, Federal support for saving lives from malaria is in question. Congress is seriously considering cuts to the Federal global health programs which will risk rolling back the tremendous progress we have made in the fight against malaria.
We have come a long way in the fight against malaria. Great progress has been made and Imagine No Malaria is proof that this public-private partnership is working. But, if these budget cuts become reality, much of our progress and investment will be undone. Protecting this small but important part of our country’s commitment to global health is critical. Lives literally hang in the balance.
