General Conference 2012

What is General Conference? General Conference is the top legislative body of The United Methodist Church. Delegates elected from regional annual conferences and jurisdictions, participate in prayerful dialog on issues of concern in the church and society, financial budgets for general church agencies and ministry programs, structural and administrative changes to clergy and lay leadership, and general ministry initiatives of the church. Legislation passed at General Conference becomes part of The United Methodist Book of Discipline and/or Book of Resolutions. General Conference is held every 4 years in different locations.
